Frequently Asked Questions
Questions:
Answers:
- How is online learning structured?
Each of your courses is divided into weekly modules. At the beginning of each week, your instructor will post that week’s readings, assignment or group project and discussion questions. You may work on all of these elements according to your own schedule; however, you must complete all assignments during that week, before the class moves on to the next module.
- How does the asynchronous forum work?
The asynchronous forum is an online discussion that is guided by your instructor. It is part of your required course work for the week. At the start of each module, your instructor will post a series of discussion questions. Unlike a scheduled online chat, the asynchronous discussion forum allows you to post your contributions at a time that’s convenient for you. Most students, however, prefer to participate early in the week, as it allows them an ongoing exchange of ideas as they work through their weekly assignment.
- How much time is required of me each week?
Most graduate-level classes at BGSU require an average input of 15 to 20 hours of work each week. This estimate includes completing course reading assignments, doing research, participating in the online discussion and working on that week's project.
- When can I start the program?
We have start dates scheduled throughout the year. To determine when the next available session is, please contact an Admissions Advisor at 1.866.432.3854 Ext. 3540.
- I have more questions before I’m ready to apply. What do I do?
Just call an Admissions Advisor to ask any questions you may have about BGSU, the Master of Science in Criminal Justice program, online learning or the admission process.
- I’m ready to get started. How do I apply?
Call our Admissions Office at 1.866.432.3854 Ext. 3540. An Admissions Advisor will send you an application kit and walk you through the components to ensure that your application is complete. The Admissions Advisor will be your contact person during the application review process, should you have any questions during that time.
